On September 11th, Granite Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC and Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC co-hosted a community event at Wilson Park to pay tribute and honor local Emergency Responders - Police, Fire, and Ambulance.

Rev. Roy Boyer hosted the event and shared sentiments of gratitude for the dedication and selfless loyalty in protecting and caring for their communities and the well-being of each citizen.  Gratitude was also expressed to the families of those honored.  A moment of silence and prayer said in remembrance of those who lost their lives on the fateful day September 11th, 2001.  The audience was blessed with the beautiful voice of Tess Boyer who dedicated 3 songs throughout the ceremony. 

Granite Executive Director, Julie Martin, Granite Director of Admissions, Dawn Steward, Stearns Executive Director, Jerry Nelson, and Stearns Director of Admissions, Robin Wright, presented a large department plaque and individual plaques to the members attending from Granite City Police Department, Granite City Fire Dept - Station #1, #2,  & #3, Granite City Ambulance, Madison County Sheriff Dept, Madison Police & Fire Dept, Venice Police & Fire Dept, Pontoon Beach Police Dept, Long Lake Fire Dept, Mitchell Volunteer Dire Dept and Abbott Ambulance Service.

The evening continued as the crowd enjoyed the music of the Doc Holiday Band who graciously donated their time for this special event.  Staff from the two facilities grilled hot dogs, and chips & sodas where available for those in attendance.  Donations were given to the local Backstoppers fund.
